I've lots and lots of exciting Top Of The Town Vintage news to share this week on my blog! First of all I'd like to FINALLY introduce you guys to a brand new Top Of The Town website! I'm so excited to finally get this online store up and running, as I hope it provides as much improved, easier and all round more efficient shopping experience, which truth be told Top Of The Town had started to really need. Yes, that's right we're moving up in the world, if only slightly. It's one small step for man, one big leap for Top Of The Town Vintage...
When I first started Top Of The Town Vintage back in October 2019, my idea was very much centred around making vintage outfits spotted on Instagram accessible for everyone. It seemed like a no brainer to launch TOTT through an Instagram store as a seamless way of connecting style inspiration with actual shoppable items. There's no doubting that in the beginning an Instagram store really worked and I don't think I could have asked for a better reaction. Over the last year I've watched in amazement as TOTT's Instagram following has grown and I've been thrilled (if not slightly overwhelmed at times) to see a growing demand for Top Of The Town's lovely pieces too. Subsequently I quickly found selling via Instagram had become increasingly challenging and after the knock out success of TOTT's last collection "English Gardens" (which sold out in a matter of minutes) it became very apparent that I needed to find a more sustainable way of offering vintage pieces to you guys.
I honestly can not thank enough everyone who has shown their support for Top Of Town Vintage, it truly does mean the world and that's why I want to make sure I'm progressing in the right direction, in line with demand. I hate the idea of disappointing customers or letting anyone down and if Top Of The Town stayed put on Instagram, I worry it would start to go that way. With this in mind, I've spent the last few weeks exploring the best way to offer an easy, effortless and stress free way to shop, eventually deciding to take the plunge, put my big girl pants on and launch this website. Wish me luck!
Secondly, I'm thrilled to launch another Top Of The Town Summer collection- albeit within the unusual and not always ideal confines of lockdown, which basically means finding new ways to shoot pieces in my garden... June's collection is called "Lisbon Girls" and it's inspired by one of my all time favourite books, Directors and films! Playing ode to Sofia Coppola and her beautiful adaptation of Jeffrey Eugenides haunting novel "The Virgin Suicides", I was really desperate to create a collection which encapsulated the whimsical, dreamlike visuals of this film. It's a feast for the eyes and lends itself so well to inspiring a vintage collection in my humble opinion. The "Lisbon Girls" collection is all about celebrating lazy days lay in the grass, fragrant summer breeze and long love struck evenings, all to a musical back drop of jangly 1970s rock and otherworldly 1980s synth.
Within this collection you will find quintessential 1970s summer style- bohemian, effortless and very feminine. I've carefully curated a selection of beautiful floaty maxis dresses, delicate floral patterns and sun bleached pastel tones, all of which invoke that wonderful feeling of a warm, hazy day in the sun. This is really a collection to wear with minimal effort- a embroidered peasant blouse thrown on with a trusty pair of cut off denim shorts, a baby doll dress worn bare foot or a maxi dress teamed with barely there make up and your hair air dried. We may not be able to jet off on a holiday this year, but I hope "Lisbon Girls" collection will at least momentarily transport you into your ideal summer's daydream.
The 16 piece capsule collection launches Tuesday 30th June, 8pm (GMT) and is available to shop via Top Of The Town Vintage's online store. Click HERE for store link now!
Happy shopping,
Sophia x
