So This Is The New Year...

And more importantly this is my New Year post! It was supposed to be the first of the year but I guess second place will do just fine. For me 2017 seems to have passed us by at lightning speed and now I've some how ended up in 2018 wondering how on earth I got here? Sorry guys, I'm sure you completely sick to the back teeth by now of all the "new year, new me" spiel and bold claims that 2018 is going to be the best year EVER and so it's probably best I break this to you from the get go... This is another one of THOSE posts but hear me out, it's with good reason and a lot of conviction. At the risk of boring you all with yet another existential post reflecting on the trails and tribulations of 2017, I really did just want to QUICKLY talk about how amazing the past year has been for me and how I have each and every one of you babes reading this right now to thank. I promise I'll keep this one snappy but I can't promise it won't be a little mushy ok?

This New Year's Day I sat there and realised (whilst gazing longingly out of a rainy window... Joke, joke, joke) that for the first time in a very long while I'm actually content with my life (in my defence I was slightly hungover and therefore a touch more emotional than usual). And I know that probably sounds a bit smug but I honestly don't mean it to at all! In fact I'm actually saying this with complete and utter surprise that for once in my life I feel like something has actually gone right?! For the first time ever I'm happy with the way things are heading! Ok so I'm not exactly where I want to be but I at least like the direction I'm going and this is a completely new feeling for me.
I've spent the entire year working my little sparkly (always sparkly) socks off and I know I just poked fun at it but a little bit of "New Year's Reflection" has actually given me the opportunity to sit back, look at how far I've come and feel totally thankful for each and every one of you following me. I feel admittedly a little confused at times that anyone in the past year actually gives a damn about anything I say, do or wear but also incredibly lucky that somewhere along the line for reasons unknown a couple of you out there actually have! I'm not going to lie, I have NO idea what exactly I'm doing right but whatever it is I promise I'll try and keep it up! I know a couple of you have requested for me to write a guide on blogging and I definitely will get one out to you soon but I'd be lying if I said I hadn't sort of winged it half the time. The one valuable thing the past year of blogging has taught me and possibly the best pearl of wisdom I could offer is to honestly keep being yourself (told you the post wasn't free of mush)! Please don't get side tracked by what the girl next to you is doing, she's amazing I'm sure but she's HER amazing and you're YOUR amazing and it's ok that they are two completely different types of amazing. Got it? I need to stop saying amazing now...
I'm so chuffed and unimaginably grateful that not only have I had such a lovely year but I've been able to share my experiences with you all and effectively keep a diary of everything exciting 2017 had to offer. All the festivals I was lucky enough to go to including Glastonbury where I saw my boyfriend play the main stage, to all the travelling I've been privileged enough to do such as visiting my number one favourite place in the world, Rome! People often belittle social media but credit where credit's due, it's a perfect way for you to pause those amazing moments in time, store them all in one place and revisit them as and when you please. We're all pretty lucky we have a platform to do something like this on and I'm so so happy to share mine with all of you. Speaking of which I couldn't have asked for a better way to end of the year than hitting the 150k followers milestone on Instagram. What a landmark!!
My aims for next year are nothing out of the ordinary and probably not too dissimilar from your own. I'm not asking for the world, I just would love another pretty awesome year and the amazing thing 2017 has taught me is that if I keep working hard then there's no reason why that's not achievable! I want to learn to relax more, stop stressing and enjoy whatever is ahead.

Sending you a million thank you's, wishing you the best 2018 and looking forward to sharing mine with you! Wish us luck and bring it on!
