Hello hello! Remember me? I'm still here! I feel like it's been so long since I last checked in, which is ridiculous because I have some mega amazing outfits and dreamy photographs (courtesy of my super talented friend Ellen Offredy) just sat desperately waiting to be shared with you! Since my last post I've been kinda busy and as soppy as this is going to sound, I have been dedicating what little spare time I have to actually spending time with my boyfriend and trying to catch his band play in various venues, in various cities as much as possible (the struggle is real). As well as showing my little cheery face at the When In Mcr all-dayer event in... Erm... Manchester (clue was in the title), to show some love to some seriously talented up and coming bands and the four power girls who organised it all (including the very same Ellen who snapped my in the below pictures... Don't worry we will get to those in a mere moment). But all of this darting about has had a knock on effect on my blog and writing up posts, or lack there of and it just won't do! So after a very mini, very unintended break, I'm soooo so excited to show you some amazing snaps I took the other week! Hooray!
Not one for "glamming" it up on nights out I often find it really hard to shop for dressy outfits and I always end up sticking to the same tired formula... Pretty dress (normally of a tea or vintage variety) with an ankle boot of some description and in all honesty, it's not very inspiring. In theory your "night out" outfit is supposed to be you at your best but personally, I feel at my best in casual clothes. I always feel like there's so much more scope with what I wear and how I style it when it's a day time look. Plus if all else fails during the day, I have my trusty stripes and converse combo to always fall back on and it never gets old! It's what I'm most comfortable in... Like a second skin, sort of. One brand which I always feels caters to my "dressing up" woes is Dahlia. A go to for any lover of pretty frilly vintage inspired blouses and adorable baby doll style dresses. The nice thing about Dahlia pieces is, you actually CAN style them up and you won't see about 5 other girls all on the same night out or at the same gig wearing basically the exact same look as you... Nobody wants an accidental twin on a night out. One of my favourite looks I put together from Dahlia is the below, a frilled high neck blouse and dun, dun, DUUUUN... Dressy dungarees?!?! Yes it's a thing and I am so very very grateful they existence. Technically they're more of a pinafore culotte but that's a minor technicality. I've taken the outfit up a dressy notch by adding a metallic Mary Jane (come on it's me, so a metallic shoe is never too far away) but I'm seriously looking forward to wearing these culottes with a high top for when I'm out and about in the day... They are so so comfy! This outfit isn't for everyone but if you're like me and you're stuck in an awkward -Tom Boy trying to dress more like a girl- rut then a look like this could be the answer! Phew!
Catch you very very soon with another key (for me, for right now) look.
